Questions And Answers
1.How do I know when to start testing?
Before starting the test, you first need to determine your menstrual cycle length. To work out your cycle length, count the day your period starts (first day of full menstrual flow) as Day 1, and continue counting through to the day before your next period starts. The number of days is your cycle length. If you don’t know your usual cycle length you are advised to wait for at least one menstrual cycle, and note the length of this cycle, before using Ovulation Test. Once you have determined your cycle length you can use the instructions in section Summary to work out when to start testing.
2. How do I determine the date to start testing if my cycle length is outside the range shown in the summary table?
How do I determine the date to start testing if my cycle length is outside the range shown in the summary table?
3. What time of the day should I perform the test? Do I need to use the first morning urine?
The test can be performed at any time of the day, preferably between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm. First morning urine is not recommended. If testing twice a day, test at the same time each day with at least an 8-hour gap between tests to help catch shorter LH surges, and reduce liquid intake for 2 hours before testing.
4. When should I stop the testing?
Stop testing once your LH surge is detected, unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
5. I’ve not yet detected my surge. What should I do?
If your cycle length varies by more than 3 days, you may need more tests to detect your LH surge. Not all women have an LH surge in every cycle. Consult your doctor if you have concerns.
6. Does a positive result make sure pregnancy after intercourse within the fertile days?
Pregnancy depends on various factors. Often, it may be necessary to take 3-4 months of testing to achieve pregnancy. A physician should be consulted if pregnancy is not achieved.
7. How soon can pregnancy be confirmed?
Rapid pregnancy tests can provide results as early as the first missed period.
